A boy about to be devoured by a succubus was not how I imagined this anime beginning at all.

So colour me intrigued. We get a pretty blonde saving the life of a boy (soon to be known as Shinichirou, our main protagonist) from a succubus under the moonlight via an arrow shot, and then we cut to the opening.

Despite the censoring, it looks like there’s gonna be a fair bit of fanservice in this show, especially as it cuts straight to gym class with focus on boobs and butts. But the story continues onwards as we meet Shin’s best friend as they bump into Sakuya, the blonde girl who saved Shin the previous night.

Nothing much happens there, but it moves on fairly fast to describe Shinichirou’s living circumstance; his parents are travelling europe (I’m starting to think the Japanese either love travelling or this is just a plot device in so many anime’s for the sake of fanservice) so he needs a part time job. Which lands him in the Chemistry lab to clean it.

Things quickly turn sour as a scream is heard through the building, finding two girls backed away from another (presumed dead or at least critically injured by a very large looking flaming cat. Shin takes off to chase the creature, which gets him an encounter with a big boobed red head shot by an arrow. He pulls it out, and meets up with Sakuya – leading to a confrontation. The two tailed flaming cat runs off and Shin gets kicked for his troubles, and labelled an enemy.

The rest is where the show gets rather interesting, frankly. We get glimpses in to what looks to be an ally soon to join the team (the Nekomata whose innocent in this whole mess) as they fight the Lightning Spirit, a very powerful monster. In true ecchi fashion, Sakuya gets stripped in the fight and having her life force sucked away induces the ‘ultimate pleasure’ in exchange. All monsters are capable of doing this, apparently.

A kiss from our protagonist powers up Sakuya to unleash her final arrow attack, and the end of the episode closes with her turning on the Nekomata, despite said girl helping them in the fight against the lightning spirit. Considering she’s going to be an ally, I’m interested to find out how this turns out.

Despite the generic boy meets girl plot in this series, I was actually really enjoying it. It reminded me a lot of Busou Renkin in some ways from the pacing and the setup – I’m curious to see Shin’s power (though the OP indicates sword based moves) and how it all ties in. From other reviews I’ve glanced at, it seems as though this show is going to be more anime original in terms of pacing, so in a way I’m glad I’ve gone into this blind. I plan to watch this, though whether or not it ends up good enough to blog remains to be seen.
