I took a break week for Mothers day, among other reasons. Sorry folks!
Now for your DxD fix~
Episode 6 brings us back to the highschool with everyone, with the announcement of a ‘hot’ transfer student. Turns out, Irina has decided to join the
harem school crew as part of the alliance. It’s revealed that the angels have now created a system based on a deck of cards (King, Queen, Jack, 10 to Ace, Joker) and that Irina has the Ace position. We get a surprise visit from another demon from a different house, Diodora Astaroth, of the Beelzebub house. He turns out to be the demon that Asia once saved, and is in love with her. He wishes to take Asia as his wife, she is uncertain about this. Issei gains the nickname ‘Breast Dragon Emperor’, making Draig cry. The rest of the episode is good old fun between the girls and Issei, ending with the rating game competition being announced, with their first challenger being none other than Diodora.
Episode 7 brings us back into the action with the preparations for the Rating Game competition full under way. Diodora returns to the club room to exchange Bishops, one of his for Asia. Rias refuses, and calls Issei a ‘filthy dragon’, causing Asia to slap him and send him away. Koneko and Issei are approached by Vali and Kuroka, the latter of whom wants to have Issei’s babies due to wanting dragon children (oi vey). Vali gives Issei a warning to watch out for Diodora, which turns out to be a truthful one, as Diodora is working with the Chaos brigade. Asia is kidnapped, and Odin steps in to wipe out the weaker devils so that Rias’ party can rescue Asia.
Episode 6 was interesting due to the identity of Asia’s demon being identified. I’m kind of suspicious, though, about it, if only because Diodora is of the king rank. It’s hard to believe he’d be injured so badly to leave a large scar by another demon or holy party, since angels and fallen angels evaporate demons upon attack. The whole thing comes across very suspicious to me so I’ll be looking forward to episode 8 with anticipation.
A lot happens in both episodes but there isn’t a great deal to comment on as far as my own opinions. I really enjoyed both episodes but I’m having trouble saying much, I suppose, because they were both great. The pacing is still a bit off, in that it feels rushed, especially with Koneko. I guess my disappointment is pretty high there – I would’ve liked more development between her and Issei before she jumped into the harem.
Some of my suspicions about Diodora are being proven right in that he’s a giant creep. I guess we’ll find out just how much of a creep he is soon.
