Guess what today is! It’s Moeronpan’s 4th anniversary! I was actually really surprised when I saw the notification. This blog started as a way for me to procrastinate during my university years. Since then, I’ve invited Ariana to join me, graduated, started a dumb webcomic, moved to Japan, started working full-time, and fallen in and out of various fandoms (remember when I used to blog Hetalia all the damn time? Remember my Vocaloid PVposts? Vocaloid is still one of my main fandoms though (…hence this review of course) but man is it hard to keep up with). And, of course, ran out of a lot of free time which makes blogging series really difficult for me. I don’t want to quit Moeronpan, and doing the anime seasons First Impressions is still a lot of fun for me, for better or worse. But, don’t worry! Even though I didn’t blog anything this season again, there are some shows I am definitely taking on next season, including one I’ll be co-blogging with Ariana.
That has nothing to do with this review, I just thought some kind of mini-speech was in order considering this milestone. I’ve heard that the average lifespan of an anime review blog is two years, but we’ve passed that twice, even if we’re not the most jam-packed review blog out there (which is my fault. I’m really grateful for Ariana’s content).
And so, on to the really overdue review for the Gumi nendoroid.
It’s been a pretty eventful year in the Vocaloid scene- a slew of new Vocaloids, Project Diva 2nd, Hatsune Miku’s second live concert, KAT-TUN’s alleged plagiarism of Megurine Luka(AVTechno’s to be precise) song DYE, Miku being mentioned in news papers and tv shows around the globe, the release of the ‘Append’ software for Miku and Rin/Len, and the incredibly exciting announcement that Kaito and Meiko are being revived for the Vocaloid2 engine with something like an Append as well. And of course an absolutely massive amount of new songs.
This post is mainly for me to show off my favourite from each Vocaloid this year, as well as the best PV and best song of 2010 overall. So as we step into the Year of the Rabbit, let’s take a look at Moeronpan’s Tops of 2010.
Nico Video seems to have been hit with a sudden wave of Awesome in the past two weeks, and a notable spike in GUMI PVs as well (never mind that her birthday was over a week before this…). This post has more videos than normal because of this…but also because this will be the last PV post for a few months due to me going back to university and limited internet and all that.
In vaguely-related-to-Vocaloid news, the Black Rock Shooter OVA is out and people have started to blog about it, it seems. I won’t get my copy for a little while longer (I’m getting the issue of Animedia it comes free with, which ships a bit later than the other two magazines it’s with) but I’ll be reviewing it. Provided I can tear myself away from Project Diva 2nd. Continue reading →
Whew, this is a little late. There’s been quite a few awesome songs lately (Hatsune Miku Append was released a few weeks ago after all) but the really impressive MADs weren’t quite so thick and fast. There were, of course, as usual, the attention-grabbers though. Continue reading →
Should I make this a monthly feature or once every two weeks, or just stick to the ‘whenever I feel like it’ routine I am currently doing? In any case there’s been some really nice songs and videos these past few weeks….so let’s take a peek at some of my favourites.
